I have fond memories of the holidays: singing with family in front of the piano, or plucking out songs by myself with only the light of a gilded tree shining, or caroling with friends, for fun. These arrangements were almost all born from the various holiday events and private parties I would be booked at to provide piano-based background music from when I was 14 on. I could spend the whole time I was booked just noodling on the piano, improvising, seeing where the melodies and chords took me. It was the beginning of my musical love of the holidays.
